ABSTRACT: Political funding is a cornerstone of democratic governance, influencing both electoral
processes and policy decisions. In India, a vibrant democracy with a diverse political landscape,
the role of political funding has been contentious and significant. This paper explores the
complex relationship between political funding, transparency, and democracy in India,
examining how opaque funding mechanisms can undermine democratic ideals and proposing
reforms for enhancing transparency. Through a review of legislative frameworks, political
practices, and scholarly analyses, this paper aims to examine the impact of political funding on
democratic governance in India.
